down his glasses at the young student. Under his hands on his tidy desk were the paper the young
mare had turned in yesterday, and its copy.
She gulped. Speaking was difficult enough with her mouth full of braces. Her palms were
sweating, and the lump in her throat wouldn’t seem to go away. She managed to croak out a
sentence. “What’s gonna happen to me?”
The old, graying stallion folded his hands and leaned back in his chair. “You have two
choices. You could be expelled.”
Venus gulped again. “What’s the second?”
Principal Hardnose just grinned at her.
