The stench of pollution and sweat filled the streets of Vanhoover, wafting around the city in a perpetual haze that seemed unbroken throughout its streets. The summer sun was beginning to wind down into fall, but not before it gave out its last few days of scorching heat. With rain on the way and more hot days ahead, many of the local residents were either inside their homes grasping at the dials of their AC units, or working in an office clamoring for the desks closest to the vents.

Venus, however, was not one of those groups. The mare panted heavily as the sound of her feet thudding against the concrete sidewalk filled the air around her. The mare shook her head slightly to keep her hair from sticking to her forehead and getting into her eyes, the sweat from having jogged the last two miles having drained her stamina greatly and beading down her forehead in large rivets.
